From Pocket Rocket to Patient Advocate

Five years. That’s how long I searched for answers, trapped in a medical maze that offered no real solutions and no acknowledgment of my suffering.

It all began with tick bites near my home in Manly in 2011. What followed was a slow and frightening unraveling of my health. Crushing fatigue. Hormonal chaos. A nervous system stuck on high alert. Persistent exhaustion that no amount of rest could fix.

For years I bounced from doctor to doctor, misdiagnosed and dismissed. I was told I was just stressed. That it was anxiety. That it was all in my head.

But something inside me knew the truth, and I refused to give up.

Last week, I had the honour of sharing my story on Channel 10 News+, alongside a global moment of awareness sparked by Justin Timberlake’s own revelation about living with Lyme disease. Here was a celebrity with access to the world’s best healthcare, and even he had suffered in silence.

I said on camera: "I was once a pocket rocket – this illness robbed me of nine years of my life." But here’s what I didn’t have time to say: those years were not wasted.

They were transformed into something powerful.

The moment I stopped waiting for someone to save me, and became my own health advocate, was the moment everything changed.

That’s when I developed what I now call the Mojo Method.
